In Yoga, I learned how to perform inversions such as standing on your head. We were taught three different ways to perform a head stand. One way positions your elbows so that so that your weight isn't even on your head--should this be called an elbow stand?
What happens while you are upside down? Well, gravity is pulling blood in the opposite direction it usually does and the circulatory system has to work harder to get blood out of the head and up to the legs. It stimulates and challenging valves and veins. At first it is very uncomfortable, similar to how you feel when first running. You can't do it very long without feeling stressed. It requires some focus and concentration to keep legs aligned over hips. The head is hit with an increase in blood pressure. It's also a little harder to breathe
