There are three obstacles to achieving my goals: physical, mental and financial.
Physical preparation. Each morning I get up around 4 am and use my watch and heart rate monitor to perform an optimization test. The test starts by reading resting heart rate while laying down. After 5 minutes, the watch beeps to indicate it is time to stand up. It takes more readings and then beeps again and displays the result. A "1" is complete recovery and "2" is a good recovery. Other numbers indicate things like over training and the need to modify workout. The VO2 and metabolic tests guide future workouts to modify workout heart rate zones and dietary intake. The watch also monitors the workout statistics used to create trend reports.
I prepare for the day by drinking a protein shake, tidy up the room and run for about a mile to catch a bus. I run again for another 2 miles to the gym. I workout twice each day to practice swimming, running and cycling with coach Ryan and strength training.
Mental. Answer the question: do you want it? What isn't perfect, yet? All the time, energy and effort is spent to deliver based on this answer. The faith to continue requires taking the next step, swimming the next lap; pushing the next pedal stroke. It requires a positive and uplifting conversation. It is that voice that says it is all worth it and keeps me on track to establish habits and organizational changes to support achievement of my daily goals. I enjoy running, swimming and cycling.
Financial. Resources are available. Budgets must be kept. What am I willing to give up now so that I can continue? What I valued from previous goals, I can recover. The reality is that I am not generating enough income to buy what I need, to pay registration fees, continue paying training fees, etc. I must find ways to create value and to open the way to get what I need.
